General description

The perfect journey if you wish to  immerse yourself in the landscapes and traditions of pre-saharan Morocco. Perfect for families with kids and for true lovers of slow tourism.

A five-day trip through the largest oasis in North Africa, discovering this unique land between the Atlas mountains and the vast rocky plateaus near the border to Algeria. Driving from Marrakech, we’ll cross the High Atlas mountains to reach the quiet city of Ouarzazate and heading south towards the Draa valley. The trip includes guided visits to the ancient souk of Agdz, the beautiful Kasbah of Tamnougalt, the prehistoric rock paintings of Tazzarine and the oasis of Zagora, with a short camel trek and a night in a traditional desert camp at the beautiful sand dunes of Oulad Driss. Upon request, horse riding tours, mountain bike and walking trails, exploring the atmosphere and charm of these magical places at the gates of the Sahara.

Stages of the trip

5 days / 4 nights

Agdz
We'll start from Marrakech driving across the Central High Atlas mountains towards the oasis of the Draa, along the caravan trade route between Marrakech and Timbuktu, at the heart of the great Sahara. In the afternoon, guided tour of the ancient souk of Agdz and the beautiful Kasbah of Tamnougalt, fascinating fortress hidden among a lush palm grove.

Tazzarine
A second day trip for nature and sport lovers, exploring the Draa oasis and visiting the prehistorical rock paintings located near the berber village of Tazzarine. Upon request, horse riding and mountain biking tours.

M’hamid
We’ll travel south towards the Saharan village of M'hamid, to discover the amazing landscapes at the doors of the great Sahara, with stops at the oasis of Zagora and the religious Sufi center of Tamgroute. In the afternoon, camel trek to the oasis of Oulad Driss and charming night in traditional desert camp among the dunes.

Ouarzazate
On the way back to Marrakech, we will explore the silent city of Ouarzazate, on the ancient caravan trade route linking Marrakech to the Saharan Africa. Guided visit of the Taorirte palace, the Cinema Museum and the famous Clà Studios. Upon request, 4x4 excursion to the oasis of Fint, green jewel in the foothills of the mountains, between palm, almond and fig trees.

Ounila Valley
In the morning, guided visit of the ancient Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Guided tour of the Ksar, discovering the secrets of this fortress made of earth and straw, visited each year by thousands of tourists. Departure in the afternoon through the Telouet valley, in the heart of the central High Atlas. Return to Marrakech thgough the Tizi 'n Tichka Pass, at an altitude of 2260 m.
